What is Astraphobia?
Astraphobia or Astrapophobia- Fear of thunder and lightning.(Ceraunophobia, Keraunophobia)
A form of behavioural therapy that has been particularly successful in treating phobic children. It involves working out a 'fear hierarchy' with each child (i.e. least to most feared situation) and training I he patient in relaxation skills which are then employed in a series of imaginal, graded exposure I rials. The relaxation skills, which are successfully mastered and practised in advance by the patient, inhibit and combat the anxiety response.
